Bear Witness

Sermons

There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words

John 5:45–47 (ESV)

Jesus, in his discourse with the Jews, tells of the witnesses that point to Him and the validity of His ministry. These four witnesses include John the Baptist, Jesus’ works, the Father, and the Scriptures.

The Messiah and the Harvest

Sermons

Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

John 4:35 (NKJV)

Jesus, during His conversation with the Samaritan woman, identifies Himself as the Messiah, the long-awaited for Anointed One.

He is the promised Seed of the woman who is to crush the serpent’s head and redeem God’s people from their sin. He also makes the wonderful declaration that the harvest has come and that sowing and reaping will coincide. The fields are white with harvest and the laborers are being sent to reap and bring in the fruit of the labor that has and will be performed on behalf of the Master.

The Preeminence of Christ

Sermons

John 3:22-36

John 3:30 (ESV): He must increase, but I must decrease.”

When disputes and factions arise around, especially during our service to the Lord, what is our response? Do we respond with jealousy? Anger? Bitterness that God may be calling His own to Himself by others and in a way we had not anticipated?

Or do we humbly admit that all we have has been given from above? That Christ is preeminent and the Head of the Church?

Love, Darkness, and Everlasting Life

January 9, 2022 New Covenant Church

John 3:16–21 (ESV): For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
